The leader of The Blue Mountain Gang, Mike Hertzog, has been playing country and bluegrass music as a soloist and a member of a band for over 25 years. He's been a founding member of several of the bands in which he's played, including the Blue Mountain Gang and its predecessor, Far From The City. >Mike Hertzog and the Blue Mountain Gang have been performing Bluegrass music together as a band since the late 1980s afterFar From the City retired.Mike Hertzog and The Blue Mountain Gang have played many venues, including The Main Stage, IBMA Fan Fest Owensboro, KY; Mountaineer Opry House Milton, WV; The Capital Theater Chambersburg, PA; Musicfest Bethlehem, PA; Central PA Festival of the Arts State College, PA; Sunset Park Oxford, PA; Godfrey Daniels Bethlehem, PA; and The Keswick Theater Glenside, PA. Bluegrass Festivals include: Shartlesville, Windgap, A.F.B.A., W.D.V.R., Lebanon Valley, Northampton, K line’s Grove, Ontelaunee Park, Lyons Fiddle Festival, Central Penna. Scenic Delaware Valley, Northeastern Penna., Scranton; and Echoes From The Hills, in PA; Buck’s Bluegrass Ranch, MD; Peninsula Festival, DE; and Delaware Fest., NJ. A few fairs are: Kutztown Fair, Kempton Fair, Heemet Fescht, Kutztown Folk Festival, Reading Fair, Schuylkill County Fair, Northampton Street Fair, Walnutport Canal Festival, Scenic River Days in Reading, Pike Twp. Sportsman’s Club, Boyertown, Longswamp Twp. Community Days, Temple Fire Company’s Carnival. The band also performs on radio stations, including live shows WBYO, WDVR, the Heartlands Hayride and WEEU’s Community Cafe. Mike and The Blue Mountain Gang have often opened shows for legends such as The Osborne Brothers, Jimmy Martin, Larry Sparks, Little Roy Lewis and the Lewis Family, Jeff and Sherry Easter, The Boys From Indiana, Connie Smith, Marty Raybon and Shenandoah, and Mike Snider.
