Resources: Local Musicians: Karen Terri Ludwig
Storyteller, Singer, Musician...
Karen fell into story telling and performancewhen her sons were in grade school and she was asked to be a 'teachers' helper.' She spent years learning her craft before she became serious about the traditional story telling art form.Karen has been performing in the Berks and Bucks County areas of Pennsylania since her early days as a performer: schools, churches, senior citizen groups, weddings, scout meetings, women's clubs, theme programs, festivals and local theatre. Since 2005, she's focused on festivals, especially dulcimer festivals across Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio and Alabama. She's been gradually finding a role for her mix of music and storytelling at the dulcimer festivals, mixing the dulcimer, singing and story telling. One of the better know venues in which she's performed locally is the Kutztown German Festival. She produced a children's album that contained traditional and original songs and stories and plans to record a second album soon.
She can
- Lead a beginning mountain dulcimer workshop
- Lead a singing workshop: a cappella and accompanied singing, history and development of tunes
- Employ guitar, banjo, hammered dulcimer, lap dulcimer OR household items as percussion instruments
Karen, who plans to soon become a 'snowbird' with her husband Ronnie, is a member of two fine dulcimer bands: Off the Wall Mountain Dulcimer Band and Jam'n'Folks.
