The Susquehanna Folk Music Society (SFMS), based in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and encouraging the traditional arts in Central Pennsylvania. Folk music, dance and crafts are living traditions which will surely fade away unless practiced. The Susquehanna Folk Music Society offers a wide range of folk activities to experience and enjoy, from the traditional arts to contemporary folk, and from local artists to international performers.SFMS began in March 1985 when a small group of people decided to join forces to keep folk music alive in Central Pennsylvania. Over the years, SFMS has sponsored concerts and dances, weekend and mini-festivals, workshops, coffeehouses and jam sessions, apprenticeships, storytelling, shape note singing and traditional craft classes.
