Resources: Genres and Performers: Celtic
Celtic music is music in the traditional stlye of the music of Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. With immigration, Celtic music now comes from Brittany (France), Galicia (Spain) and sections of the United States and Canada wher Celtic people settled. With so many influences, the term, "Celtic," is somewhat ambiguous. However, Irish and Scotish traditional music styles commonly define the genre. Since both Irish and Scotish traditional music each embody different styles, this definition is quite broad. The instruments used to make Celtic music also cover a broad range: fiddle, flute, pennywhistle, bagpipes and villeann pipes, bombarde, accordian (melodeon, button accordion, piano accordion, concertina), banjo, mandolins, citterns, bouzoukis, guitars, harps, hammered dulcimer, bodhrán (and other percussion instruments).
