Some new faces turned out for the bluegrass jam that was held as part of Berks Country Fest Tuesday night at Meadowood Music in Maidencreek Township.

"It was very nice," said co-owner Paula Taylor. "We got to meet some new people."

In addition to the jam participants, Taylor said there also were a half dozen onlookers. Usually, the jams at Meadowood do not attract an audience, but Taylor said she welcomed their attendance.

The instruments included guitars, mandolins, a banjo and an upright bass. The styles played during the jam included bluegrass, gospel and fiddle tunes.

"We make it our own as it (the music) goes around the room," said co-owner Mike Andrews, who also participated in the jam along with Taylor.

On Thursday, Meadowood will host a classical jam at 6:30 p.m. which is an event for string players involving sheet music provided by Meadowood. The music will include light classical and pops.

In addition, Meadowood will host an Acoustic Open Mic on June 18 at 6 p.m. in the store's backyard. Performers are asked to sign up in advance. For information, call 610-916-1285 or go to www.meadowoodmusic.com.
