Mike Hertzog

Teaches at Meadowood: Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri & Sat

Mike Hertzog has been performing music as both a soloist and band member for nearly three decades. He is a founding member of several of the groups he has performed with, including the Blue Mountain Gang and its predecessor, Far From The City.

Mike’s performance experience spans an impressive range of venues, including the main stage of the IBMA Fan Fest (Owensboro, KY), the Mountaineer Opry House (Milton, WV), the Capitol Theatre (Chambersburg, PA), Musikfest (Bethlehem, PA), the Central PA Festival of the Arts (State College, PA), Sunset Park (Oxford, PA), Godfrey Daniels (Bethlehem, PA), and the Keswick Theatre (Glenside, PA). He has performed at countless fiddle and bluegrass festivals and on radio stations including WBYO, WDVR, Heartlands Hayride, and WEEU’s Community Café. With his band, Mike has opened for legendary artists such as The Osborne Brothers, Jimmy Martin, Larry Sparks, Little Roy Lewis and the Lewis Family, and The Boys From Indiana.

Mike plays Scruggs-style banjo, guitar, mandolin, and fiddle. His musical interests include Bluegrass and Country, though he enjoys—and teaches—a wide variety of musical styles. Mike teaches beginning through advanced banjo and guitar, as well as beginning mandolin and fiddle. He teaches both children and adults.

Meadowood is pleased to have him as part of its cadre of excellent musician-teachers.
