Open Mics

 

Meadowood has hosted monthly open mics since 1998 - two years before the store was open for business, At first, the events were in the Kutztown Park Bandshell, but moved to the back porch/yard of Meadowood's original location in 2000 (233 West Main Street, Kutztown). When the store moved to Blandon, the open mic moved to the back yard there.

 

In 2017, Meadowood began to sponsor Clay on Main's monthly open mic in Oley, and continued open mics at the store. In May 2018, Meadowood consolidated discontinued th outdoor, weather-dependent open mic at the store, and put its full weight into support for Clay on Main's year-long, monthly, indoor open mics. 

 

Please join us at Clay on Main's Half Moon Cafe (313 Main Street in Oley) on the first Monday of each month from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Musicians and audience members are welcome. Each musician may perform up to 3 tunes. Acts should require little set-up time; material should be appropriate for a family audience.

 

The Half Moon provides seating and a PA system with a sound technician, and asks each adult to donate $5. Free parking is available in the nearby church lot. The Half Moon asks that open mic participants park there, not on the street (where we would inconvenience the residential neighbors).

 

The open mic does not happen

• if the first Monday of the month is a Federal holiday,

• if the weather is very hot (CoM doesn't have adequate cooling), or

• if the Oley Valley School District closes for winter weather.
